Natalie Singer on Seattle University Panel and Reading

Please join Natalie Singer, author of California Calling: A Self-Interrogation, who will be reading from her new memoir at Seattle University (Admin 222) for Women Writing the Body: A Reading and Panel Discussion, free and open to the public. Other participating panelists include Reagan Jackson and Theo Pauline Nestor. Some words about the panel: Expressing the experience of possessing a female body during patriarchy will be the subject of this afternoon of readings and discussion. How do women bring their bodies to the page? How do we articulate the life of our bodies within patriarchy while using the language of the patriarchy? How do we—in the words of writer Reagan Jackson—refuse to become our own enemies? Come hear short readings from Reagan Jackson, Sonora Jha, Theo Pauline Nestor, and Natalie Singer and let’s engage in a thoughtful discussion of what it means for women writers to bring the body into their work.
