True Portland Launch Party at Reverend Nat's Hard Cidery

Please come out and celebrate the launch of True Portland: The Unofficial Guide for Creative People with us at Reverend Nat’s Hard Cidery & Public Taproom (21 and over) on Thursday, June 22nd from 6-10pm. Launch party highlights include: A Japan marketplace with local purveyors of Japanese food, drink, and goods sampling and selling their wares including Biwa/Noraneko/Parasol, Marukin Ramen, Yume Confections, Jorinji Miso, Kiriko Made, Wanpaku Natto, Seisuke Knife, Obon PDX, and Umi Organic. True Portland author, Teruo Kurosaki, and his esteemed Bridge Lab/Media Surf team will be flying in from Tokyo for the event. Reverend Nat will be pouring his Magnificent Seven hard cider made with Japanese apple varieties and sake yeast which is already on shelves in Japan. Culmination Brewing will be taking over one tap with their Oregon Kara Sakura beer made from yeast that Japanese brewery Ise Kadoya harvested from pine trees at Ise’s Grand Shinto Shrine garden. D.J. Jimbo will be spinning all sorts of good tunes. Rhonda Hughes and Liz Crain and other Hawthorne Books folks will be there with a Mt. Fuji-sized mountain of books for sale.

True Portland Book Signing at PDX Tender Loving Empire

The new PDX Portland Airport Tender Loving Empire is hosting Teruo Kurosaki (flying in from Tokyo!) and Liz Crain for a book signing event for True Portland: The Unofficial Guide for Creative People on Friday, June 23rd from 11am-1pm. Those who stop by the international D Concourse Tender Loving Empire for this event will get to sip on some Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider (featured in the book!)—hopefully their Magnificent Seven cider made with Japanese apple varieties and sake yeast and purchase copies of True Portland to get them signed by the author and editor. Some other folks and businesses featured in the True Portland and carried by Tender Loving Empire might make appearances as well such as Bee Local, Betsy & Iya, Egg Press, Gigantic Brewing, Quin, Salt & Straw, Smith Tea, and Woodblock Chocolate. Tender Loving Empire is a record label + marketplace for unique, handmade goods that supports artists and musicians with four Portland locations.

True Portland Book Signing at The Good Mod

Please join Teruo Kurosaki and others from his esteemed Bridge Lab/Media Surf team and Liz Crain for this special book signing event for True Portland: The Unofficial Guide for Creative People on Sunday, June 25th from noon-2pm at The Good Mod. The Good Mod, featured in True Portland, is a sprawling mid-century design furniture shop that does custom restoration and design on West Burnside St. just up the road from Powell’s City of Books. It is one of Teruo Kurosaki’s favorite Portland furniture destinations so we are really looking forward to this event.
